PDVIR, a ray of hope for the rehabilitation of the degraded road in the Nkolmesseng district in Yaoundé
The particularly degraded condition of the road in the Nkolmesseng district, Yaoundé V district municipality (CAY V) in Yaoundé, has been in the headlines for several years. The consequences are numerous. In terms of the environment and public health, dust is rife in the dry season and mud in the rainy season. Mototaxis reign supreme with the train of traffic accidents. Access to administrative services (sub-prefecture, gendarmerie, police station, etc.) is difficult. And small businesses are deserting. As part of cooperation between Cameroon and the World Bank, in particular the inclusive and resilient cities development project (PDVIR) which aims to create structural roadways to improve mobility, as well as drains to better evacuate water of rains, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development (MINHDU), Célestine Ketcha Courtes, announces that, in Yaoundé, the Nkolmesseng district is one of the targeted areas. Two sections of nearly eight kilometers should benefit from this project, which is scheduled to start in July 2021.
