ONIGC: an international conference on the building and public works sector to mark its 20th anniversary

Kisito Ngoa, current president of the National Order of Civil Engineers of Cameroon

One of the characteristics of urban development and planning in developing countries, in particular Cameroon, is the non-involvement of existing art professionals (town planners, architects, computer scientists, telecommunications specialists, civil engineering specialists, actors of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), etc.). It is to address this problem and other intellectual and scientific subjects that the conference was held on November 18 and 19, 2020 at the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé, bringing together professionals from the civil engineering sector on the theme: "L 'civil engineer in the service of infrastructure development'. Through this conference, questions and themes that will constitute the daily life of the civil engineer for the next 20 years were discussed. These include, among other things, the concepts of smart cities, intelligent transport systems, expertise and responsibility in civil engineering, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, the quality and durability of structures, sustainable urban mobility systems, etc. , so many areas in which the engineer will have to be efficient. It should be noted that, on the occasion of this conference, the National Order of Civil Engineers (ONIGC) of Cameroon celebrated its 20 years of existence and its current president is Mr. KISITO NGOA.
