Celebration of the African Days of Decentralization and Local Development (JADDL) and the Registration of Civil Status Facts (JAEC)
Decentralization, because it participates in the overhaul of the state, confronts state governments with major challenges (culture of citizenship, representative and participatory democracy, local financing, corruption, collaboration between deconcentrated and decentralized authorities, etc.) . For the success of the decentralization process in Africa, the African Union urges all state and non-state actors, all local and traditional authorities to work in synergy for the establishment in our countries of exemplary local governance in the service of local economic development. It is with this in mind that the celebrations taking place on Monday, August 10, 2020, at the esplanade of the Town Hall of OKOLA (satellite town on the outskirts of Yaoundé), will mark the 9th edition of the African Day of Decentralization and Local Development (JADDL) and the 3rd African Day of Civil Status Registration (JAEC) and the production of Civil Status statistics, under the chairmanship of Mr. Georges ELANGA OBAM, Minister of Decentralization and of Local Development (MINDDEVEL), and on the respective themes of "the contribution of local authorities to conflict prevention and the maintenance of peace on the continent" and "Civil Status registration and Civil Status statistics : an essential service to monitor and mitigate the impact of emergency situations ”. It will also be an opportunity for MINDDEVEL to visit the KONABENG Secondary Civil Status Center.
