These inhabitants of certain districts of Yaounde who wake up in the water

Flood: affected neighborhoods

Since the return of heavy rains, some areas of the city of Yaoundé are affected by floods. A phenomenon that happened again this weekend. Thus, the problem of floods on Yaoundé is put back in the spotlight. Last Friday, Saturday and Sunday, people living in certain areas of the city saw their homes invaded by water. This brings up to date the lack of water circulation routes. This lack is the consequence of urban disorder. As a result, some neighborhoods and houses are invaded. In the district of Yaounde I, the Bastos and Dragage districts suffered the same fate. The locality "Valley" on the side of Nlongkak has become unrecognizable. Plantain peelings, plastic bottles carried by rainwater from one point to another have been part of the decor between the Camtel Club and the marshy area of Mballa I. In Yaoundé VII, the Nkolbisson and Oyam-Abang districts have not failed to hit the headlines. The latter were very affected, fools of water that did not make the passage of pedestrians easy. All this is the consequence of the insufficient channels of canalization and those which exist obstructed by household and industrial waste; non-compliance with the building code; lack of maintenance of riverbanks and drainage systems in the city; the garbage prevents the drainage of water and suddenly, the water makes its way to other places of residence. In short, nothing is respected. It is therefore important to change mentalities since many are incivism.
