Blocking the path to HIV / AIDS in young people is the goal of a 3-day workshop held in Yaoundé
On 25 and 26 July, a workshop was held in Yaoundé to block the way for the increase in the prevalence rate among young people by 2020. In the meantime, the results of the Cameroon Population Based survey Hiv Impact Assessment (CAMPHIA) reveals that prevalence has decreased by almost 20% in the general population. However, the young environment is the nest of the increase in the prevalence rate of this pandemic. A study entitled "2015 Report, Estimates and Projections on HIV and AIDS in Cameroon: period 2010-2020", projects an increase in the prevalence rate among people aged 10 to 24, from 72031 people in 2010 to 78818 in 2020. News shows that 6000 young people between the ages of 15 and 24 contract HIV every day. This workshop, organized by a non-governmental organization, Youth Press and Development, contributes to the prevention of this disease. To do this, strategies have been adopted to attract the attention of young people:
They are invited to adopt positive behaviors, the media of which are also vectors of communication for behavioral change.
To reach the maximum number of teenagers, it is important to invest in digital technology to increase their awareness. Because these young people have a misconception of the modes of transmission of HIV.
